How Actions Shape Learning: Cause-and-Effect Development in Babies and Toddlers

We’ve all heard that babies and toddlers are little sponges who are constantly absorbing new information. Most of us parents have had the rather humbling experience of hearing our mini-me repeat the swear word we had said when we dropped our coffee or stubbed our toe, and usually this moment takes place in front of the grandparents or your coworker or someone like that. While this is less than ideal, it is just an example of how our precious ones are learning the principle of cause-and-effect.
